We want you to be happy with what you buy from us. That said, we sell digital data — once it’s downloaded, there’s no way to “return” it. Here’s how we handle refund requests.
Digital Product Policy
All products sold by The Email List Company are digital data products (email lists and contact databases) delivered electronically. Because digital data can be copied, forwarded, and used immediately upon delivery, all sales are final once the data has been downloaded or delivered.
When We Will Issue a Refund
That said, if something goes wrong on our end, we’ll make it right. Here’s when we do issue refunds:
- Duplicate Purchase: If you accidentally purchase the same list twice, we will refund the duplicate order in full.
- Delivery Failure: If we are unable to deliver the product to you within 48 hours of purchase, you are entitled to a full refund.
- Significant Data Quality Issues: If more than 10% of the email addresses in your purchased list bounce upon first use (beyond the stated accuracy rate for that product), we will work with you to replace the affected records or issue a proportional credit. You must report the issue within 14 days of purchase with bounce-back documentation.
- Wrong Product Delivered: If you receive a different list than what you ordered, we will immediately deliver the correct product or issue a full refund.
When Refunds Are Not Available
Refunds will not be issued in the following situations:
- You have already downloaded or accessed the data files.
- The purchase was made more than 14 days ago and no quality issue was reported.
- The list performs within the stated accuracy rate for that product.
- You changed your mind after purchase or no longer need the data.
- Your email campaign produced low response rates (response rates depend on your messaging, targeting, and sending practices — not on list quality).
- Your email service provider or sending platform rejected the list due to their own internal policies.
Custom Data Lists
Custom-built email lists are non-refundable once the data has been compiled and delivered. Before we begin work on a custom list, we will provide a quote and scope for your approval. Once approved and work has begun, the order cannot be cancelled.
How to Request a Refund

Please include your order number, the product purchased, and a clear description of the issue. For data quality claims, please attach your bounce report or relevant documentation.
Refund Processing
Approved refunds will be processed within 5–7 business days and returned to the original payment method. Please allow additional time for the refund to appear on your statement depending on your bank or card issuer.
Store Credit Option
Sometimes we’ll offer store credit instead of a cash refund. It doesn’t expire and works on any future order.
